The Toolbox is going to be a series of articles in which we go one by one discussing the tools available in iPiccy Photo Editor. We’ll talk about the strengths, weaknesses, and appropriate times to use these tools. Last time we talked about the Wrinkle Remover, but today we’re talking about how to use the Face Slimmer Tools. Face slimming may seem a bit like cheating on your diet, but there are plenty of reasons a picture may not be as flattering as you’d hoped. Things like a bad angle, bad lighting, or even just some minor bloating. It’s all pretty unfair, fortunately, iPiccy Photo Editor is here to help!
iPiccy has two face slimmer tools, “Thinnify” and “Liquify”, we will learn how to use both.
The “Thinnify” tool is a very simple and straightforward tool. It merely changes the orientation of the picture to appear subject in the photos appear slimmer.
Step 1. Upload your photo to iPiccy Photo Editor
Step 2. Select the third tab at the top the “Retouch Tab” and scroll down to the bottom and select the “Thinnify” tool
Step 3. Adjust your slider as necessary.
Step 4. Save your work.
The “Liquify” tool takes more patience, and practice to use effectively.
Step 1. Upload your photo to iPiccy Photo Editor
Step 2. Select the third tab at the top the “Retouch Tab” and scroll down to the bottom and select the “Liquify” tool
Step 3. Adjust your brush as you feel necessary and apply the “Liquify” effect to slim your face
Step 4. Save your work. You’re done!
Let’s look at one picture and use the “Thinnify” and then the “Liquify” on it so we can see the difference in tools.
The differences are relatively minor in these examples. This is mostly the types of differences you will see though. Oftentimes, when you dramatically slim someone’s face it can be offensive or just look very out of place. Generally speaking just reducing some loose skin and making a jaw look sharper will often do the trick.
This is a matter of preference if you’re the subject of your own photos. Obviously, you use this tool when you want, and if your client requests it. However, I would be conscious of making these types of edits if you don’t have explicit permission of the subject. It’s simply a matter of courtesy to ask a subject if you’re allowed to use a face slimmer on them.
